Explore Beef

Consumers today want to know more about where their food comes from, and they’re trying to make sense of the competing messages in today’s marketplace. ExploreBeef.org was developed to help visitors hear from beef producers on questions about grain vs. grass-feeding; animal welfare, antibiotics, growth hormones and the environment.

Safe and Savory at 160
Consumers need to know that, when it comes to cooking ground beef, safety and taste go together. Safe and Savory at 160 is the beef checkoff’s campaign to provide home chefs and grillmasters with the information they need about the quality and safety benefits of cooking burgers to 160 F using an instant-read meat thermometer.

Video Resources
Very few consumers know what farming and ranching is about or have ever set foot on an operation. These videos on beef production, environmental stewardship and animal welfare allow consumers to hear from producers and see what American farms and ranches are like virtually.

Beef Retail
BeefRetail.org contains a wide variety of checkoff-funded resources for a retailer audience, including a helpful Q&A for retailers to answer common customer questions about foodborne pathogens and the safety of the beef supply

FMDinfo.org
There hasn’t been an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in the U.S. since 1929, but outbreaks overseas have attracted consumer attention in the past. FMDinfo.org is the beef checkoff’s main resource for science-based information on FMD, including:

BSEinfo.org
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), commonly known as “mad cow disease,” is a technical subject, and consumers need clear, science-based information to separate the facts from misinformation. BSEinfo.org provides straightforward answers for a general audience, as well as an expert-reviewed scientific resource that summarizes current knowledge of BSE and other prion diseases.
